Tessie Weir

I graduated from Mississippi State University with my Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education. I then taught for two years at a preparatory high school/junior high school in Jackson, Mississippi. I decided that I wanted to teach at the collegiate level. Therefore, I went back to Mississippi State and received my Master of Science degree in Mathematics. My collegiate teaching career started at Mississippi University for Women. I taught there for five years as well as at my alma mater for one year before coming to Seminole State College. I am very excited about my new “home” and teaching mathematics. I believe everyone can learn mathematics if they just open their minds. For as Winnie the Pooh says, “You are stronger than you seem and smarter than you realize.”

You can usually find me with a cup of coffee in my hand no matter the weather. I usually must have some music playing at all times. I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking, and running. I have completed four marathons and one half-marathon to date. You can usually find me watching SEC football through out the fall, rooting for my Bulldogs. In the summer months I am usually close to the beach having fun with friends and family.
